What’s New In Cypress 🌲

The Government Shutdown is Making Travel, Tragic

If you’ve seen the madness unfolding at airports lately, you’re not alone. From hours-long TSA lines to grounded flights, travel chaos is rippling across the countryβ€”and it’s only getting worse.

As of November 4th, wait times are expected to increase even further as federal workers like air traffic controllers and TSA agents continue working without pay. The result?

  • Longer waits, more delays, and cancellations β€” Fewer staff means slower screenings and fewer flights clearing for takeoff.

  • Unpredictable schedules β€” With more β€œsick calls” and staff shortages, it’s harder to forecast when things will run smoothly.

  • Strained safety oversight β€” While officials insist flying remains safe, the stress on aviation systems is real, according to CBS News.

  • Smaller airports hit hardest β€” Major hubs can shuffle staff and absorb delays, but smaller airports often don’t have that luxury.

Until Congress reaches an agreement, experts warn the situation may worsenβ€”especially heading into the busy holiday season. [Check here for accurate Travel Times]

Housing & Mortgage Watch🌲

Accurate as of October 23rd, 2025. Brought to You By Blair Realty.

Mortgage Snapshot

  • 30-Year Fixed Rate: 6.17 % ⬇ 0.02 pts this week | ⬇ 0.55 pts year-over-year

  • 15-Year Fixed Rate: 5.41 % ⬇ 0.03pts this week | ⬇ 0.58 pts year-over-year

  • Monthly average: 6.23 % | 52-week average: 6.69 %
Rates eased AGAIN this week and are hovering near the lows of the past several months, and I’m thinking this is encouraging for buyers heading into November.

Houston & Cypress Housing Market

  • Houston-area median home price: $259,900 (↓ 9 % over 6 months)

  • Cypress inventory snapshot:

    • All Residential Listings: 1,187 (↑ from 948 last week)

    • New This Week: 103

    • Price Reductions: 569 (↑ from 431 last week)

Inventory in Cypress rose notably this week, signaling that more homeowners are entering the market. At the same time, the number of price reductions climbed sharply, suggesting that sellers are adjusting expectations to stay competitive. For buyers, this combination of growing inventory and motivated sellers could open the door to better negotiating powerβ€”especially if mortgage rates continue to hold near recent lows.

Mortgage rates are trending down while local prices are correcting. If this continues, fall could bring the most balanced Cypress market in over a year. Looking for your next home? Contact Blair Realty today.
