Happy Tuesday, Cypress! 🌲

Halloween is this Saturday, and it looks like we're in for a warm one! We're talking 86 degrees with a 30% chance of thunderstorms, so hopefully the rain holds off while the kiddos are out trick-or-treating.

We've got two free Halloween stops worth checking out this weekend and an update on that Grand Parkway construction deadline so many of you have been waiting on.

And if you're planning to vote early, you'll want to read this one. The busiest early voting location in all of Harris County is right here in Cypress. We've got some information that could help you avoid that line.

Have a great week, Cypress!

Cheers! - Ashlyn 🌲💚

MEET FREDDIE (AND HIS DIGGING HOBBY)! 💙 This 5-month-old, 27-pound Pit Bull/Husky mix beat parvo and came out the other side all puppy: chill one minute, zooming the next, and completely obsessed with water. He’s good with kids, dogs, and cats, sleeps through the night in his kennel, and walks well on a leash. He’s still working on potty training and the occasional puppy nibble, so he’d love a family with a little patience and a yard he’s allowed to rearrange.

Don’t forget to pick him up some treats 🐶

What’s New In Cypress 🌲

🌲 The busiest early voting site in Harris County is in Cypress

If the Weekley Community Center is your go-to voting spot, you've got plenty of company! The location at 8440 Greenhouse Road was the busiest early voting site in Harris County as of Friday, according to ABC13, passing the longtime favorite on West Gray near downtown. And it's not just Cypress showing up. More than 415,000 people across the county voted in the first four days, bringing turnout to 15.1% of registered voters compared to 10.3% at the same point in 2022.

If you're planning to vote this week, remember you don't have to go to Weekley. You can vote at any Harris County vote center, including two other nearby options at 15235 Spring Cypress Road and 26026 Hempstead Highway. Early voting runs through Friday, Oct. 30, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3, with the same hours. Check the wait times before you head out, bring an accepted ID, and jot down your ballot choices on paper since phones can't be used in the voting room.

🌲 Costco’s Grand Parkway store hits its construction deadline next week

If you've been keeping an eye on the new Costco going up at Grand Parkway and West Road, we've got an update! According to state filings, construction on the 160,000-square-foot warehouse is scheduled to wrap up Nov. 6. That's next Friday! The $64.5 million project has come a long way, too. Drone footage from Oct. 5 showed the walls and roof in place, with the parking lot already paved.

Now, before you start planning your first Costco run, there's one thing to keep in mind. Nov. 6 is the scheduled construction finish date, not an official opening date. Costco hasn't announced that just yet. There's also a new Home Depot planned for the same Grand Mason development, with construction scheduled to begin Oct. 15, according to state filings. And for everyone wondering, yes, the new Costco will have a gas station, too!
