Houston Methodist is a Cypress Digest partner. This story is based on the hospital's own announcements and a state construction filing, which we link below.
Houston Methodist Cypress Hospital opened an inpatient dialysis center and eight new intensive care beds this month. They're the first pieces of the expansion the hospital announced in March, one year after it opened at 24500 Northwest Freeway. Here's what's open now, what's still coming, and what the dates on file actually say.

What opened in October
An inpatient dialysis center on the fifth floor, for patients recovering from surgery and admitted patients who need continued dialysis during their stay.
Eight more ICU beds, bringing the hospital's intensive care unit to 18 beds.
Houston Methodist announced both on Oct. 20, 2026, in a press release. The hospital also says it's set up to open eight more ICU beds, for 26 total, depending on community need. Those aren't open yet.
What the full expansion includes
When Houston Methodist announced the expansion on March 27, 2026, it listed:
64 medical-surgical beds
16 intensive care beds
Six operating rooms
One endoscopy suite
An inpatient dialysis suite
145 new jobs across clinical and support roles
A note on the price tag: the release's headline says $100 million and its body says $104 million. We're using the figure in the body.
What the state filing shows
A Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing for the hospital (TABS2026000409) covers $50 million of interior build-outs across 82,300 square feet:
Level 2: operating rooms and support areas
Level 2: critical care and support areas
Level 5: dialysis
Level 6: a medical-surgical inpatient floor and support areas
The filing lists construction from Nov. 10, 2025, to March 26, 2027. Those are the owner's estimates, not opening dates, and the filing doesn't cover the full $104 million. Houston Methodist hasn't announced when the remaining beds and operating rooms will open. We'll update this page when it does.
Why this matters if you live here
The Cypress hospital opened in 2025 with 100 beds, per Houston Methodist. Since then, the expansion has been about capacity: more critical care, more surgery, and dialysis for admitted patients in the same building. Hospital CEO Trent Fulin framed it as growing alongside the community, which is a fair description of the numbers. Cypress is projected to keep adding residents for the next decade (here's where they're going).
For questions about care at the Cypress campus, the hospital's location page lists services and contact information. For a medical emergency, call 911.
