I cannot blink lately without seeing a “coming soon” sign or a new project registered with the state. Cypress is in a major growth phase, and we are here for it. There have been 183 new projects registered for Cypress since March of 2025, about 6 months ago, as of the time of posting.

I’m not going through ALL of them (who has that kind of time), but I will provide the rundown.

These Are the Big Projects Shaping Cypress Since March 2

Cypress is in a full-on build boom. In the last six months, more than 100 projects were registered—ranging from hospital expansions and new schools to a Costco warehouse, apartments, and multiple neighborhood parks. We combed through the filings and pulled the ones residents will feel the most in daily life.

1) Healthcare expansions (the biggest story)

  • Memorial Hermann Cypress Campus Expansion (Additions)$98.3M (Review Complete). A major capacity lift for inpatient and specialty care on the northwest side.

  • MH Cypress Campus Expansion – Diagnostic/Treatment$59.0M (Review Complete). More rooms and equipment for testing and procedures, easing wait times.

  • Houston Methodist Cypress Hospital – 2025 Buildouts$50.0M (Registered). System-wide buildout work that signals longer-term growth.

  • Plus targeted upgrades: new specialty clinic space ($3.3M), imaging & diagnostics ($2.0M), and wound care ($550K).

Why it matters: These projects collectively mean more specialists, shorter commutes for care, and better resiliency during hurricane season—top concerns we hear from readers.

2) Retail anchors and everyday conveniences

  • Costco – Cypress Warehouse$64.5M (Registered) with a $3.31M fuel facility and $2.15M parking addition.

  • Cypress Square Retail Center$6.0M (Registered).

  • Refreshes locals will notice: Walmart remodel ($1.12M), Trader Joe’s update ($900K), Sephora (Outlets) refresh ($725K), and a new Walk-On’s buildout ($1.5M).

Why it matters: Big anchors like Costco draw jobs and tax revenue, and the remodels improve the shopping experience residents use weekly.
