Happy Friday, Cypress! 🌲
It's Halloween weekend, which means the candy bowl is already half empty and it's not even Saturday yet. We see you.
Bonus: the clocks fall back an hour early Sunday morning. Whether that means an extra hour of sleep or an extra hour of sugar-fueled kids depends entirely on your household. We're not judging.
Inside, we've got a famous name bringing coffee to Cypress, a couple of new spots on the way, and a few last-minute ways to spend Halloween weekend.
Have a great weekend, Cypress!
Cheers! - Ashlyn 🌲💚

MEET FREDDIE (AND HIS DIGGING HOBBY)! 💙 This 5-month-old, 27-pound Pit Bull/Husky mix beat parvo and came out the other side all puppy: chill one minute, zooming the next, and completely obsessed with water. He’s good with kids, dogs, and cats, sleeps through the night in his kennel, and walks well on a leash. He’s still working on potty training and the occasional puppy nibble, so he’d love a family with a little patience and a yard he’s allowed to rearrange.
Don’t forget to pick him up some treats 🐶
🌲 It’s Friday. Here are some suggestions:

What’s New In Cypress 🌲
🌲 Jimmy Butler's coffee shop is opening its first Texas location in Cypress
Yes, that Jimmy Butler. The NBA star's coffee company, BIGFACE, plans to open its first Texas cafe right here in Cypress in November, according to Community Impact. The company is in the hiring stage now, so if you've ever wanted to pull espresso for a pro athlete's brand, here's your chance.
And it's not the only new coffee on the way. WAH Coffee, which serves coffee, matcha, refreshers and pastries, is planning a cafe off Greenhouse Road, with a target opening of January 2027. Between the two, your morning coffee run is about to get a lot more interesting.
🌲 Don't forget: the clocks fall back Sunday
Daylight saving time ends at 2 a.m. this Sunday, Nov. 1, so set the clocks back an hour before bed Saturday night. Your phone will handle itself, but the microwave, the oven and the car will not.
It's also a good weekend to knock out the twice-a-year house checklist: test the smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, swap the batteries, and change the HVAC filter while you're at it. Ten minutes now, and you won't be chasing that 3 a.m. low-battery chirp next week.
🌲 This Weekend:
🎃 Friday: Trunk or Treat Boo Bash
Rodeo Dental & Orthodontics of Cypress is hosting a trunk-or-treat starting at 3 p.m. Friday. An easy after-school stop to get the costumes some practice before the big night. See the listing.
🔦 Friday: Trick or Trails scavenger hunt in Tomball
A Halloween scavenger hunt for families from 6 to 9 p.m. in Tomball, if you're up for a short drive. Get the details.
👻 Saturday: Two free fall festivals
In case you missed them Tuesday: Fallbrook's Fun Fest runs 4 to 6 p.m. at 10215 Greenhouse Road (ticket required, ages 2 through fifth grade), and Faith City Church's festival runs 5 to 8 p.m. at 15010 Mueschke Road. Register for Fun Fest | Faith City details
🏈 Saturday: A Halloween morning kickoff
Cypress Woods and Cypress Lakes play at 11 a.m. at Pridgeon Stadium, with plenty of time to get home and into costume. See the stadium schedule.
🕺 Saturday night: An '80s Halloween party for the grown-ups
Kids in bed (or at Grandma's)? The Spicolis' sixth annual Halloween '80s party starts at 8 p.m. at The Barn at Frio Grill. See the listing.

🌲 Coming Soon: Chicken Tenders and Custard
Chicken tender fans, take note. Florida-based Huey Magoo's has a $350,000 build-out registered with the state for 11430 Barker Cypress Rd., Ste. 200, in the same center as Tim Hortons and Andy's. The filing has construction wrapping up Nov. 1, but no opening date has been announced yet.
Further out, Culver's has filed for its first Cypress location: a drive-thru at 9265 Fry Rd., near Bridgeland, with construction running through June 2027. Butterburgers and frozen custard are a summer 2027 story at the earliest. Until then, the closest ones are in Katy and Fulshear.
