🌲 CFISD: What happens if the bond fails
Five propositions are on your Nov. 3 ballot:
A 12-cent tax-rate increase per $100 of taxable value for daily operations
Plus four bond measures totaling about $1.64 billion.
At last week’s Community Connect meeting, Superintendent Doug Killian warned that downsizing could start at the elementary level as the district faces financial pressure and declining enrollment. Each proposition passes or fails independently.

🌲 Nearly 110,000 more residents projected by 2035. What about the roads?
The Cy-Fair Fire Department's demographers project 21% growth by 2035, nearly all of it along the Grand Parkway and the west side, while the older core is almost built out. Meanwhile, the Greenhouse Road underpass won't finish until December 2030, and the Grand Parkway widening runs through 2029. The fire district votes on its budget Thursday.

🌲 A tequila bar is soft-opening, and La La Land is coming to Dunham Pointe
Galiana's Casa Del Tequila on Greenhouse Road is doing reservation-only dinners from 5–10 p.m. through Sunday, with a grand opening Sept. 28. It's family-owned, with seafood, steaks, ceviche, weekend brunch, and a spot to keep your own bottle on the shelf. Over on Mason Road, La La Land Cafe filed for a second Cypress location at 14615 Mason Road, next door to where Flower Child is going in. There's no opening date yet on that one.

🌲 Smith’s band is headed to a national stage
Smith Middle School’s varsity band is one of just 14 middle school band programs nationwide selected for the 2027 Music for All National Festival in Indianapolis. It’s the program’s first invitation to perform at a national festival or clinic.
