Happy Friday, Cypress! 🌲
If your weekend plans involve doing absolutely nothing, Cypress might have other ideas for you!
We've got a new crepe spot in town, Ambriza is celebrating its 10th birthday with a weekend full of festivities, and there's a free Fall Fest happening Saturday for a wonderful cause. Not a bad way to kick off the first full weekend of November!
Of course, there's some important local news to catch up on, too. All five CFISD propositions were voted down Tuesday, leaving plenty of questions about what comes next for our schools. We're breaking down the results and what we know so far.
And for our neighbors near Cy-Woods, keep an eye out for runners Sunday morning! The Cypress Half Marathon is back, so you may want to plan your morning drive accordingly.
Whatever you've got planned, I hope you find a little time to relax, enjoy the cooler weather, and maybe treat yourself to something sweet!
Have a wonderful weekend, Cypress!
Cheers! - Ashlyn 🌲💚

🐾 Adopt Spotlight: Meet Kaydence! 💙
A 2-year-old, 80-pound Cane Corso/Bully mix who takes her daily walks very seriously! This sweet girl knows exactly where her leash is and isn't shy about reminding you when it's time to head out. She's great with kids, kennel-trained, and has met other dogs, though she hasn't lived with one. She's also spayed, heartworm-negative, and up to date on her vaccines and preventatives. Her temporary foster said she'd be the perfect dog if she were ready to adopt again. Now Kaydence just needs a loving family who's comfortable with big, strong breeds. Could she be your new walking buddy?
Don’t forget to pick her up some treats 🐶

🌲 CFISD voters reject all five propositions. So, what happens next?
The results are in, and CFISD voters made their voices heard Tuesday. All five propositions were rejected, including the district's proposed $1.63 billion bond package, according to unofficial results released Wednesday.
Proposition A, which would have increased the district's operating tax rate by 12 cents, failed with 67.5% voting against it. The four bond propositions covering school repairs, technology, athletics and pool upgrades were also voted down, with opposition ranging from 63% to 73%.
Nearly 198,000 ballots were cast, and about three-quarters of those votes came in during early voting.
So, what does this mean for our schools? Proposition A would have brought in roughly $103 million a year to help fund district operations, including staffing and salaries. With CFISD already facing an estimated $80 million budget deficit, according to KPRC 2, the district now has some difficult decisions ahead.
Superintendent Doug Killian says the next step is to listen to the community and reassess the district's options. No specific cuts have been announced, but we'll be keeping a close eye on what comes next for CFISD families and staff.
🌲 Ambriza is turning 10, and they're celebrating all weekend! 🎉
Ten years of tacos, margaritas, and good times calls for a celebration! Ambriza Social Mexican Kitchen at The Boardwalk at Towne Lake is throwing a three-day anniversary party Nov. 6–8, and there's a little something for everyone.
Here's what's happening:
Friday, 6–9 p.m.: Family Night with face painting and a Kids Eat Free special!
Saturday, 6–9 p.m.: Anniversary party with live music.
Sunday: Wrap up the weekend with a special mariachi brunch!
If you’re not familiar, you'll find Ambriza at The Boardwalk at Towne Lake. Sounds like a pretty good excuse to make some weekend plans!
🌲 Go Bears! Bridgeland's cross-country teams are headed to state!
We've got some hometown athletes to cheer on today! Both the Bridgeland boys' and girls' cross-country teams are competing for state titles after sweeping the Region III-6A championships.
Bridgeland senior Hope Smith led the girls with a first-place individual finish, while Cy-Woods junior Landon Deas and Cy Ranch freshman Renee Warren also earned individual spots at state. Wishing all our runners the best of luck. Bring home some hardware! → See the region results
🌲 Heads up, Cy-Woods neighbors! The Cypress Half Marathon is Sunday
If your Sunday morning plans take you anywhere near Cypress Woods High School, you might want to allow a little extra drive time!

Here's the race-day schedule:

9:45 a.m. – Kids K
10:30 a.m. – Course closes
Organizers haven't posted a list of road closures, but with runners and spectators in the area, it's worth planning ahead.
Running this weekend? Packet pickup is Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Dick's Sporting Goods in Willowbrook Mall. Parking around Cy-Woods will be free for participants and spectators.
And if you're not running, there's nothing wrong with showing up to cheer on your neighbors!

Putting up lights this year? Look at the roof first.
Holiday lights mean someone on a ladder at your roofline, which is usually when people spot the lifted shingles and cracked pipe boots. With rain in the forecast this week, it’s a good time to know what you’re working with. Sweet Brothers Roofing, based here in Cypress, does free inspections and will tell you when it’s a repair, not a new roof.
