The Houston Texans’ New Training Facility is Coming to Bridgeland!
Our main impact story of the community today is that the Houston Texans announced new headquarters and training facility slated in Bridgeland! I couldn’t believe it either, early last year and throughout 2025, talk regarding the franchise relocating or at least building an off-site facility so the team and staff could avoid the congestion that NRG brings.
Think about it, Disney on Ice, Expos, conventions, shows, and of course, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. That is a lot of traffic flowing in and out of NRG Park. The solution? Use NRG for one purpose? Gamedays. Made sense.
With all of these talks taking place, the idea of a suburban location was dropped, but nothing was ever solidified until now. They have confirmed an 83-acre project tp house training facilities, headquarters, and (maybe) an entertainment section. More to come as more is released! Here’s what we know so far.
Bridgeland, TX (February 2026) — The Houston Texans are moving forward with plans to build a new headquarters and training facility in the Bridgeland community of northwest Harris County, signaling a major shift in the franchise’s long-term footprint in the Houston region.
The proposed project, approved for planning collaboration by Harris County Commissioners in February 2026, would be developed through a public-private partnership between the Houston Texans, Harris County, and Howard Hughes Holdings Inc. The facility is slated for an 83-acre site within the Bridgeland master-planned community in Cypress.

The announcement follows months of evaluation by the Texans organization regarding the future of its front office headquarters and practice operations. While the team currently operates out of the NRG Stadium complex — one of the NFL’s rare remaining setups where practice facilities are housed within the stadium — team leadership has indicated that model may not be sustainable long term.
Owner Cal McNair previously confirmed the organization was exploring options throughout the region.
“Very few teams are actually in the facility, in the stadium like we are,” McNair said. “Would we move out? Yeah, we would move out and do a brand new one somewhere.”
Texans President Mike Tomon has emphasized the broader opportunity such a development presents, noting that modern NFL headquarters often extend beyond training operations to include retail, dining, hospitality, and community-oriented spaces.
While final development plans have not been released, the 83-acre Bridgeland site creates the potential for a destination-style campus similar to other NFL developments across the country.
Bridgeland, developed by Howard Hughes Holdings Inc., is one of the nation’s top-selling master-planned communities and has experienced substantial residential and commercial growth in recent years. The addition of the Houston Texans’ headquarters would further elevate the area’s regional prominence.
The Texans will continue to play home games at NRG Stadium, where the team remains under lease through 2032 and is currently working with Harris County and RodeoHouston on renovation discussions.
Additional project details and timelines are expected as planning progresses.
What This Means for Cypress
While plans are still in development, the potential impact for the Cypress and Bridgeland area is significant.
Elevated Regional Profile
Hosting an NFL franchise’s headquarters positions Cypress as more than a fast-growing suburb — it reinforces the area as a destination within Greater Houston.
Economic Activity & Business Interest
Large-scale sports facilities often attract surrounding retail, hospitality, office space, and corporate partnerships. Even the announcement phase can increase investor and developer interest in nearby properties.
Long-Term Infrastructure & Development Momentum
A project of this scale typically drives coordinated planning around roads, utilities, and commercial expansion, accelerating growth patterns already underway in northwest Harris County.
Community Identity & Pride
Beyond economics, professional sports franchises carry cultural weight. The presence of the Houston Texans would embed a new layer of identity into the community, creating gathering spaces and shared experiences for residents.
As details unfold, the project could mark one of the most transformative chapters in Cypress’ continued growth.
