Welcome Back to Cypress Digest! Your Weekly Guide to News, Events & Exclusive Deals in Cypress, TX.
Neighbors, it has arrived… School starts tomorrow! 😳 Now, is it just me, or is school starting earlier? I vaguely remember my grade school years having a late Aug. start — like the 25th?
Best of luck to all of our amazing district staff and parents. Here’s to a great first day.
Cheers!, Ashlyn 🌲💚

What’s New In Cypress 🌲
The CFISD Board Meeting was held Monday night. Here’s a recap:
🚨Be cautious driving this week:🚨 There are now more walkers, bikers, scooters, drivers, and buses on the road than in previous years. Please slow down, your response time when driving 35 MPH is 1.5 seconds (about 75-80 feet of travel before you can hit the brakes). That jumps up to 85-90 feet if you’re traveling at 40 MPH.
Bus buddy volunteers needed Aug 13-14th: These volunteers are a big help during the first few days, helping with the littles (and the drivers).
Reminder that Mon, September 1st is the Labor Day holiday: This is for both students and staff.
New Student Registration is Now Open: This was posted Monday Night
The School has an Emergency Notification System you can opt into. [Learn More.]
Reminder: There’s a new personal device policy in effect (cell phones, tablets, smart watches, etc.) Find out what is and is not allowed for this year. [Personal Device Policy].
Think you’re having a bad day?… Panera is in deep. Like millions deep.
If you didn’t notice, the Panera Bread off of 290 is shut down, and it’s not alone. 15 Panera Bread stores have closed after a wild turn of events with a rogue franchisee owner. Apparently, Panera (the main company) terminated its rights with the franchisee (aka EYM Cafe), who owned 15 stores across Houston, including the one here in Cypress. So these storefronts were operating illegally by using the Panera Bread name for months. It gets worse— ‘EYM Cafe’ reportedly owes up to $50 million to hundreds of creditors.
