New Business Grand Openings, 35+ Weekday Events and More

Welcome Back to Cypress Digest! Your Weekly Guide to News, Events & Exclusive Deals in Cypress, TX.

Ok so there’s a local-ish coffee drive thru that claims to be the ā€œWorld’s fastestā€. RoadRunners - Coffee & Shakes. I dunno I’m all for speedy service but as they say, You can have it fast, cheap or good— but you can only pick two.

With coffee in 60 seconds or less I’m a bit curious. Anyone willing to give them a try and let me know?

Shoot me an email if you do! Cheers, Ashlyn.

  • Adopt Pets: Now onto one of my favorite parts, picking pets! This week I’m showcasing two lovies. Meet Saul Goodman (what a dog name right!?). He’s an affectionate, chill pup with a precious face. Then we have Maren, an adorable 4 month old who’s described only as ā€œ100% sweet potatoā€.

  • Homes of the Week: On this episode of extravagant Cypress houses this one does me in…..[See the listing]. But reeling myself back into a reasonable budget, I can’t get over this one either [See the listing].

Cypress Finds 🌲

Best Grocery Store Chains in Cypress

Quick 3 minute read if you want to know the best places to grocery shop (and why) here in cypress. All are opinion based but with reasoning.

Best for shopping experience and gas prices: Kroger off Mason Rd

Kroger is untouched for its atmosphere. And I mean that as; it’s never overly crowded, it’s almost always clean, and oddly quiet.

It feels like you can just walk about and shop in peace in Kroger which I’ve always found delightful.

Plus, if you're a Kroger member (which is free if you didn’t know) you get points on gas that can knock down the prices between $0.03 up to $0.10 per gallon. That’s the range I’ve found anyways. Now as far as the location I’ve shopped on the right side of 290 near mason road and I’ve shopped on the left side off of Barker Cypress and Tuckerton.

The one off Mason is much better for lower traffic and for grocery delivery.

Best for deals and online shopping: HEB Bridgeland

I’ve shopped at three Cypress HEBs numerous times and I’ve always found their deals to be great. The online coupons are better though since the coupons are automatically added in. They also have online specials that tend to knock down my total as well.

But the biggest thing as far as deals are their white labeled products. These are the ā€˜HEB branded’ products. I’ve never been disappointed by the HEB brand compared to name brand— I cannot say the same for Kroger branded products.

Here’s my take on each location:

  • Bridgeland HEB- the newest and coolest. Just opened recently and their BBQ is awesome. It gives off mall vibes with the Auntie Annes Pretzel store inside.

  • Tuckerton/Fry HEB- like the middle child. Not as new or as nice of a grocery pickup experience but, still a convenient option.

  • 290 and Barker HEB- the most dated with the highest traffic since it’s right off of the 290 and Barker exit. Proceed with caution.

Best for affordability and quality: COSTCO (The one and only)

Say what you will about a club memberships, but I have found a huge reduction in my monthly grocery expenses by bulk shopping at Costco.

Some of the must-by bulk staples include:

  • Gas

  • Wine/beer

  • Dog food

  • Protein pancakes

  • Nuggets

  • Pizzas

  • Bread

  • (Most) snacks
