Last call for crawfish, 15 weekend local events, & new summer programs

Welcome Back to Cypress Digest! Your Weekly Guide to News, Events & Exclusive Deals in Cypress, TX.

A man with no sailing experience, a cat, and ā€œthe spine of somebody who’s like 115 years oldā€ just sailed from his home state of Oregon to Hawaii (2,000 miles) in 24 days. And you still can’t find the time for the gym. Mmmk? šŸ˜‚

Cheers, Ashlyn.

Harris County Public Library (Finally) Promoted its Summer Reading Program

  • I am a huge fan of summer reading programs, its a no pressure way for kids to explore what they actually like to read. But my best tip for readers— don’t keep reading if you don’t like the book. Seriously. Sunk cost fallacy is a thing. You think you have to finish it— you don’t. Move on. I give credit for trying šŸ˜Ž

  • Crawfish season is closing out friends. (Let’s cry together). But before it says its goodbyes be sure to give BB’s Tex Orleans a try. And Hans just dropped prices again $7.99 per pound or 5 for $35 Dine in or to-go.

  • Since Tuesday I added MORE new camps to our ā€˜2025 Summer Camp List’. [See them all here]

  • Adopt Pets: This week we are hoping for two babies to find homes. Shadow, a 6-month old lab mix who would make the perfect friend this summer (I’m told he loves to swim). Also, LuLu needs a loving foster home. She is also a beautiful 6 month old sweetheart who loves kids and other dogs.

  • House of the Week: The Ceiling. The Bathroom. The Backyard. Wow. And the price just dropped….[See the listing]

Together With

Every home deserves a personalized touch and there is no one better than O& E Pools and Construction. They are premium skilled craftsman who will have you drooling over their design and pool build outs. (I should know, I seriously stopped mid scroll to watch in pure awe.)

So if you’ve been on the fence about that pool or backyard oasis build— This is your sign. They’ve also teamed up with Lyon Financial for some great financing options. These include low fixed rates, military programs and options for 640+ FICO scores.

Graduation Traffic is the WORST

CFISD graduations are STILL being held for the next two days at the Berry Center. Don’t get me wrong, I am a proud Cypress resident and that includes being happy for all of our graduates. But as for traffic. This is one of my least favorite weeks of the year šŸ˜‚

Keep in mind, Berry Center rests in the smack middle of an already congested Barker Cypress so if you need to plan an alternate route for after work today or Saturday, now’s the time. You can read the full schedule of graduation ceremonies here but basically if you’re traveling down Barker Cypress today between 12pm- 8pm (or 9am-5pm on Sat.) — allocate some extra time. (And woos-a your way through it.)
