Memorial Day Deals, Summer Reminders & Local Events
Welcome Back to Cypress Digest! Your Weekly Guide to News, Events & Exclusive Deals in Cypress, TX.
Happy Friday, friends! Memorial Day is on Monday which is the official start of summer for many of us. Now that we’re (almost) officially into summertime, just a few reminders:
Mosquito season is here, so check your yard for standing water — even that forgotten flower pot saucer or clogged gutter can become a breeding ground. A quick walk-around can save you from a lot of itchy evenings.
Sunburns happen fast, especially on cloudy days or during those “just 15-minute” errands. Don’t forget to reapply sunscreen (yes, even on the kids, even on the dog’s nose if they’re the pink-nosed type).
Heat exhaustion creeps up on you, especially if you’re chasing little ones or working in the yard. Hydrate, take breaks, and don’t underestimate the power of a cool towel around your neck.
Pets feel the heat too. If the pavement is too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws. Make sure they’ve got shade, fresh water, and a way to cool off — even if that means a little splash time in a kiddie pool.
Kids can overheat quickly. Whether they’re in the backseat or out in the yard, check on them often, keep drinks nearby, and teach them early signs of getting too hot (like headaches, nausea, or just “feeling weird”).
Sometimes it’s the little things that make the biggest difference in keeping your home and family safe through the heat. Here’s to enjoying every minute of summer — comfortably, safely, and bite-free. 🌞
