The Texas grid Is taking a hit — What about Cypress?

The Texas power grid has been under increasing pressure, and it's not just because of the summer heat. Our growing population, rapid industrial expansion, and rising digital demand are all pushing the state’s energy infrastructure to its limits.

Now, Cypress may be standing at the edge of an even greater challenge. A colossal new project—Stargate, a $500 billion AI and data center initiative backed by OpenAI, SoftBank, and Oracle—is planting roots across Texas. With 20 data centers planned and the first already under construction in Abilene, this initiative could dramatically reshape power usage statewide. (Read the full story here)

While this positions Texas as a tech titan, it also means more demand on a grid already nearing capacity. So what does that mean for communities like Cypress? It’s time to ask the big questions: Are we prepared? Who will foot the bill for expanded energy infrastructure? And can our local systems withstand what's coming?

Stay tuned—we’ll be watching how this unfolds for our corner of the state.

CFISD News

Graduation Traffic prep

Don’t say I didn’t warn you because I am sending this out a week early to prep you all. CFISD released the graduation schedule and it will be held at the Berry Center on Wednesday through Saturday of next week.

Now, the Berry Center rests in the smack middle of an already congested Barker Cypress so if you need to plan an alternate route for after work, now’s the time. You can read the full schedule of graduation ceremonies here but basically if you’re traveling down Barker Cypress between 12pm- 8pm (or 9am-5pm on Sat.) — allocate some extra time.
