In The News

Emergency Supplies are Sales Tax Free April 26-28

Did you know there was a sales tax holiday for emergency prep supplies? Yeah me neither. But certain emergency supplies are tax exempt on purchases during April 26th-28th and under certain prices. Some of the supplies include generators, first aid kits, light sources and hurricane shutters. [The full list can be found here.]

New Walmart Opening April 30, 2025

According to local sources, this ā€˜new’ Walmart won’t be traditional, instead it will be a store of the future. Basically meaning, they invested in better checkouts, organization and online ordering. Truthfully, I would’ve been happy with some upgraded carts, (Target still has them beat there).

This store is apart of Walmarts 2025 Texas wide investment in remodeling stores. The 14 Houston area stores is apart of 67 total in Texas to be updated this year. However this new one in Cypress is the first new store to be built in the nation in four years (arent we special?!) [Full story on KHOU11]

Bridgeland’s 17th Annual Nature Fest is this Weekend

Taking place at Oak Meadow this Saturday from 10AM to 4 PM. Most of the events and performances are free but they do say that some may require a small fee (If I had to guess it’s for feeding animals, things like that). Some of the events will include; Laser Tag, Petting Zoo, and Balloon Artist. [Read their full lineup here]
