April is here, summer travel and 15+ events in the Cypress Area
Welcome Back to Cypress Digest! Your Weekly Guide to News, Events & Exclusive Deals in Cypress, TX.
Things are starting to heat up (finally) and after some rain over the weekend it should be perfect weather to get out, do some yard work and start acclimating to the coming Texas heat.
Pet Spotlight: Cinder 🤗

Cinder is looking for his future home and we are here to help him! Cinder is an 8 week old heeler mix. He is working on potty and kennel training. He is up to date on vaccines, microchipped and will be spayed/neutered and receive rabies vaccine through the Cypress Lucky Mutt Rescue at an appropriate age.
In The News

April may be your best (and last) chance to book a summer vacay
If you thinks it’s too late to plan something for summer vacation here’s the reality: there are still deals to be had. Booking before mid-April can still yield you a great combo of affordability and availability. For some great summer camps try this guide. Also follow these tips:
Use a travel agent if you're on a time crunch – They can quickly find package deals and hidden discounts you might miss.
Be flexible with your dates – Even shifting your trip by a few days can lead to major savings.
Fly mid-week if possible – Tuesday and Wednesday flights are often cheaper and less crowded.
Bundle your trip – Booking flights, hotels, and rental cars together can unlock additional discounts.
Set price alerts – Use tools like Google Flights or Hopper to track fare drops and snag the best rates.
I sent these out last week but just in case you missed them:
1. Property tax appraisal notices are coming soon
Appraisal districts typically send out property value notices starting in April, so March is a good time to review last year’s valuation and start gathering documentation if you plan to protest your appraisal. Rising property values in Texas can increase your tax bill. Protesting early can save hundreds or even thousands.
2. STAAR testing is about to kick off
Another April happening is the start of STAAR testing. Testing windows are from April 8 and can go as late as May 2nd. You can see the full testing calendar here.
