Cypress-area food lovers will have the opportunity to hear from one of the culinary world’s most recognizable chefs this fall—and support an important local cause at the same time.

Montgomery County Food Bank will host its inaugural Flourish & Nourish Ladies Luncheon on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at The Blue Magnolia in nearby Magnolia. The afternoon will feature world-renowned chef, author and philanthropist Cat Cora as its keynote guest.

The event is presented by Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital and co-chaired by Montgomery County Food Bank board members Jacqueline Huntsman Calder and Krystle Riley, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital.

An Afternoon of Food, Connection and Purpose

Guests can expect an elegant luncheon beginning with a champagne reception, followed by the “Beauty, Bubbles & Bling” Pull and a fireside chat and audience Q&A with Cora.

KPRC 2 news anchor Lisa Hernandez will moderate the conversation.

Cora made television history in 2005 when she became the first female Iron Chef on Food Network’s Iron Chef America. She later became the first woman inducted into the American Academy of Chefs Culinary Hall of Fame.

Her work also extends far beyond television and restaurants. Cora is the founder and president of Chefs for Humanity, a nonprofit focused on fighting hunger through humanitarian relief and nutrition education.

Organizers say her commitment to addressing food insecurity makes her a fitting guest for the launch of Montgomery County Food Bank’s newest signature event.

“Cat Cora has used her talent and platform to fight hunger around the world, and we’re honored to welcome her to Montgomery County,” said Scott Burns, President and CEO of Montgomery County Food Bank. “Her passion for ensuring everyone has access to nutritious food makes her the perfect voice to help launch Flourish & Nourish and inspire our community to join us in the fight against hunger.”

Supporting Neighbors Facing Hunger

Proceeds from the luncheon will directly support Montgomery County Food Bank’s efforts to provide nutritious food to families and individuals experiencing hunger throughout the county.

In 2025, the organization distributed more than 10 million nutritious meals. Neighbors turned to the Food Bank for assistance an average of 90,000 times each month.

“There is power in a room of women who decide that hunger in their community is a challenge they can help solve,” co-chairs Huntsman Calder and Riley said. “A shared meal has always been a way to bring people together, and at Flourish & Nourish, women will be inspired to help put food on the table for families in need.”

For Cypress residents, the luncheon offers a chance to enjoy an afternoon out, hear directly from a groundbreaking chef and support families in the greater North Houston area.
