Libraries are one of the few free spaces we still have, places where families, students, remote workers, retirees, and kids can gather without needing to buy anything.
For Cypress residents, that makes the local Harris County Public Library branches especially valuable. Between the Northwest Branch Library on Regency Green Drive and the Lone Star College-CyFair Branch Library on Barker Cypress Road, a library card can unlock much more than books.
The Harris County Public Library Knowledge Card
The Knowledge card is the modern take on a traditional library card, but with so much more than simply being used to check out books. With a Harris County Public Library card, Cypress-area residents can:
Check out resources for free, including e-books, e-audiobooks, comics, magazines, and more through Libby.
Attend free events, including story times, book clubs, computer classes, craft programs, ESL classes, citizenship classes, and family activities.
Use public computers, printers, scanners, laptops, photocopiers, and study spaces.
Reserve meeting rooms or study rooms at participating locations.
Visit the Maker Lab at the LSC-CyFair Branch Library and check out creator equipment.
Browse the seed library at LSC-CyFair and take home seeds for a garden project.
Access online learning, research, career, language, genealogy, business, and technology resources.
Join summer reading programs and kid-friendly activities year-round.

The Library also offers a Family Place Learning Center, school/group tours, computer and technology classes, ESL classes, and in-library equipment like laptops, scanners, print stations, DVD/Blu-ray players, and more.
And if you’re willing to drive a little farther, Harris County Public Library also offers specialty resources at select branches, including gardening tools at two locations. Houston Public Library cards are also free for Texas residents, which means Cypress residents may be able to access additional Houston Public Library resources, including TECHLink centers with creative technology like podcast studios, 3D printers, multimedia tools, and more.
So yes, the library is still a great place to find your next book. But in Cypress, it can also be a free workspace, learning hub, family outing, garden starter, tech resource, and community gathering place, all with one card.
