Cypress is growing so quickly that keeping up with every grand opening has practically become a full-time job.

Over the past several weeks, we’ve welcomed new places to eat, recover, create, train—and apparently throw axes or buy a cigar without leaving the car. If you’ve been wondering what recently opened around town, here are eight new Cypress-area businesses worth knowing about.

Degree Wellness is essentially a gym for recovery—except instead of treadmills and weights, you’ll find cryotherapy, infrared saunas, red-light therapy, compression massage, cold plunges, IV hydration and other wellness services.

The new Cypress-Bridgeland studio held its grand-opening celebration July 18. Degree’s website currently lists its official opening for August, with founding memberships and early-access opportunities available now.

The College Station-born chicken chain has officially arrived in Cypress.

Layne’s is known for crispy hand-breaded chicken tenders, crinkle-cut fries, Texas toast and its signature sauce. The menu also includes chicken sandwiches, wraps, milkshakes and a chicken club topped with brisket bacon.

Its Cypress restaurant celebrated its grand opening July 18, with a portion of the day’s sales benefiting Cy-Fair High School.

Cypress certainly isn’t short on chicken-finger restaurants, but local residents can now decide where Layne’s belongs in the great tender hierarchy for themselves.

Bombers Volleyball Club has opened its new Cypress training facility, known as The Hangar.

The locally owned club offers volleyball training and competitive teams for young athletes, ranging from developmental programs to regional and national competition. Its programming includes club teams, camps, clinics, private lessons and position-specific training.

The new facility gives Bombers a permanent home in Cypress—and gives local volleyball players another place to sharpen their skills without traveling across Houston.

After operating virtually for three years, local business owner Jody Lane has opened a brick-and-mortar home for Bountiful Boards.

The business creates custom charcuterie boards, grazing tables and displays for parties, corporate events and celebrations. The Cypress storefront also carries entertaining and gift items and hosts hands-on charcuterie workshops for adults and children.

This is not simply a place to order cheese and crackers. It’s part catering business, part workshop space and part destination for Cypress hosts who want their next gathering to look significantly more put together.

Cypress-based Half Baked Goodness now has another location serving its signature thick, gooey cookies on Fry Road.

The bakery offers classic flavors such as chocolate chip, double chocolate, crème brûlée, peanut butter supreme and celebration, along with specialty flavors that rotate throughout the year. Gluten-free, keto, paleo and other alternative options are also available.

The Fry Road shop joins the original Cypress location on Mueschke Road, making a warm-cookie emergency considerably easier to solve on either side of town.

Cypress parents have a new place to let their children paint, sculpt, experiment and make a glorious mess somewhere other than the kitchen table.

Kidcreate Studio offers age-specific art classes, camps, workshops, birthday parties and homeschool programming for children. Projects incorporate drawing, painting, clay, slime, mixed media and other hands-on activities designed to encourage creativity rather than produce perfectly identical crafts.

The company previously served Cypress through its mobile program before opening its permanent Bridgeland-area studio in late June.

Yes, Cypress now has a drive-through cigar humidor.

HTX Cigars offers more than 50 premium cigar selections through a drive-through window at Grant and Spring Cypress roads. Customers can order ahead or ask a trained tobacconist at the window for a recommendation based on flavor, strength and budget.

There is no lounge and no need to find parking—the entire concept is designed around getting a properly stored premium cigar quickly.

Customers must be 21 or older to purchase tobacco products.

For the days when a quiet walk and a cup of tea simply will not do, Cypress now has iSmash.

The stress-relief entertainment center offers rage rooms where guests can safely break objects, black-light splatter painting and axe throwing. Private rooms and packages are also available for birthdays, group outings and other events.

iSmash held its Cypress grand opening in June, bringing an entirely different form of entertainment to the Highway 6 corridor.
