A 12-year-old boy is in fair condition after being shot Friday night, Sept. 25, in the 8700 block of Barker Cypress Rd. near West Rd.
What happened
According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, someone in a dark-colored sedan traveling north on Barker Cypress fired multiple shots at a lifted black truck driving through a parking lot.
The boy's family was parked outside a business, waiting for a relative to come out. Their minivan was positioned between the truck and the sedan as the sedan traveled alongside the truck and shots were fired. The boy was hit near the shoulder.
His parents and three siblings were in the minivan with him. No other injuries were reported.
Where the investigation stands
The sheriff's office has not identified a shooter, and the investigation is ongoing. Investigators have described the truck as the target of the gunfire, and the family was caught in the crossfire.
