Happy Cinco de Mayo, Cypress! 🌮🇲🇽
A little history for the day, Cinco de Mayo is often confused with Mexican Independence Day, but they're actually two different things (Independence Day is September 16). What today commemorates is the 1862 Battle of Puebla, where an outnumbered Mexican army beat a French force nearly twice its size, a stunning underdog win that became a lasting symbol of Mexican pride and resilience. 🇲🇽
Here's a fun local connection, though: the general who led that victory, Ignacio Zaragoza, was actually born just a few hours south of us in Goliad, Texas. 🤠 So today is a great day to celebrate Mexican heritage, support a local Mexican-owned restaurant, and raise a margarita to one heck of a story. 🍹
Have a great week, Cypress!
Cheers! - Ashlyn 🌲💚
