What today commemorates is the 1862 Battle of Puebla, where an outnumbered Mexican army beat a French force nearly twice its size, a stunning underdog win that became a lasting symbol of Mexican pride and resilience. 🇲🇽
Here's a fun local connection, though: the general who led that victory, Ignacio Zaragoza, was actually born just a few hours south of us in Goliad, Texas. 🤠 So today is a great day to celebrate Mexican heritage, support a local Mexican-owned restaurant, and raise a margarita to one heck of a story. 🍹
