Happy Friday, Cypress! ⚓🌲
Okay so here's something wild that I somehow didn't know until this week — Houston has never hosted a Fleet Week. Like, ever. We've been a city since 1836 and sit on one of the busiest ports in the entire country, and somehow Fleet Week has just been happening in San Diego and New York every year while we were over here minding our own business. 🤷♀️
Well, that ends this weekend. Houston's first-ever Fleet Week kicked off on Wednesday, 1,000+ sailors and Marines are literally in the city right now, and three Navy ships are parked in the Ship Channel just chilling. You can go tour them. For free. There are also free concerts, a free aviation expo at Ellington with actual military aircraft, and a drone show in Seabrook. All free. 🫡
So if you didn’t have any plans this weekend, just know there's a whole Top Gun situation happening 30 minutes down the road if you want to get out. ✈️

Bountiful Boards Charcuterie is opening soon next to one of the best cookie and drink shops available; Half Baked Cookies - Fry Rd.
They will be offering in-store pickup and local delivery from their Fry Road location (8020 Fry Road, Cypress, TX)
Looking for a fun event? They also offer workshops for adults AND KIDDOS. We’re talking class kits, all the materials and ingredients, plus guided instructions. Being honest… I’m not a good candidate for those— the food won’t make it (I’m a snackin girly). But the kids’ classes look precious with the ability to build a charcuterie cup 🥹 and a personal cookie from Half Baked Cookies

In case you missed it, Mo’s abruptly closed its doors this week and allegedly didn’t fill in its staff before doing so. Locals cite that service, food quality, and attendance have been lacking lately. [Learn More]

Andy’s Frozen Custard off of Barker Cypress has its signs up, so it shouldn’t be long now. This one has been delayed for a while now (it was supposed to open in Feb/March), so it’ll be nice to give it a try finally.
Tim Hortons (located in the same shopping center as Andy’s) has its signs up as well, but internal construction isn’t scheduled for completion until the end of July, with the grand opening TBD for now (I’m sensing August).
